This pretty large furoshiki from the Japanese brand Musubi has a dango pattern in shades of red and gray on a beige background.
Made in Japan, it comes from the collection around the work of the painter Yumeji Takehisa, from the romantic Taisho movement and known for his Binjin-ga paintings ( “ paintings of beautiful women ” ).
Furoshiki is a traditional Japanese technique for wrapping gifts and everyday objects using a square of fabric. In this size, it can be used as a picnic tablecloth, handbag or shopping bag as well as a decorative element in its own right, hung like a wall hanging.
