ORIGAMI TUTORIAL The Basket
Because Easter is synonymous with egg hunts for little ones (and sometimes older ones), I wanted to offer you this tutorial to learn how to make an adorable origami basket!
This folding is much simpler than it looks and actually requires very little material. Once completed, this basket, depending on the size chosen, can be used to hold chocolate eggs or as a party decoration, as a table centerpiece or small place marker.
To make one of these little origami baskets, you will need:
- a square of Japanese paper , in the size of your choice depending on the desired size for your finished basket (see the list below) - 1 square of paper corresponds to 1 basket,
- a cutter or a pair of scissors , if you need to cut your square of paper from a sheet of Japanese paper (optional),
- and a glue stick .
PROPOSED DIMENSIONS
For the baskets featured in this article, we used squares of paper ranging from 15cm to 40cm on each side . Below are the dimensions of a finished basket based on the dimensions of the square of paper used :
FOLDING INSTRUCTIONS
To discover the steps for folding this origami, watch the video below:
- Take your square of paper, white side facing you and points facing up and down, then mark the center lines. Fold your square of paper so that you have a triangle.
- Depending on the size you choose for your square of paper, fold the bottom of your fold, as indicated by the dotted line, by the width indicated in the image and/or the table below.
- Fold the strip of paper previously obtained in step 2 back on itself.
- You get this. Unfold your paper triangle.
- Fold inward the dotted lines previously marked in step 2, as shown in the diagram.
- You get this. Turn your fold over.
- Apply a little glue to the inside of the tips of your square of paper and fold them towards the center, making sure to slide them under the strip previously obtained in step 6.
- Fold the fold back towards the center again, as indicated by the dotted line.
- You get this. Fold down the left side of your fold to mark the crease indicated by the dotted line.
- Fold down the right side of your fold to mark the crease indicated by the dotted line and thus align the thickness of your fold.
- Apply a little glue to the points indicated by the dotted lines and fold them inwards.
- Unfold the resulting shape outward. The center of the fold will fall against the dotted lines shown in the diagram. It is this movement that gives the final volume to the basket.
- You get this.
- Grasp the ends of your fold upwards to form the handle of your basket. Apply a little glue to it.
- Slide them inside each other to “lock” the folding and thus obtain the handle of your basket.
CONGRATULATIONS! You've just made an adorable origami basket!
I took advantage of one of the beautiful sunny days we've had in recent weeks to take some photos of these adorable baskets in my mom's garden, which I love so much! They're nestled in the grass, among the daisies and these very beautiful Bakeri Lilac Wonder botanical tulips.
